thoughts on last night's o.c.:

1. ryan and lindsay need to stop with the breaking up. i know it's hard to date your adopted mother's illegitimate half-sister, but i'm getting bored.

2. i hope caleb is faking being a nice person, but i also think he needs to stop ragging on ryan. though the "everyone seems to forgot you impregnated someone" line was hilarious. i haven't forgotten! but now that teresa is on "numbers," i wonder when that storyline will get resolved.

3. i teared up a little when alex told seth that their relationship was just to prepare them for what will happen next. hey, i'm 9 days out of a 2-year relationship, i'm allowed to cry about sweet rebound talk.

4. SANDY COHEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME? the whole time he was keeping rebecca's presence from kirsten i kept thinking, "sandy cohen, you are not this stupid." i may or may not have said it aloud to the television. i am looking forward to seeing kirsten put the roses from sandy in the garbage disposal. i think in every relationship, there is one ex of your partner's that just really burns you up. sandy could have taken the "ok kirsten i know you have issues about rebecca so i will tell you everything and give you no reason to be suspicious and involve you in every aspect of my life as a husband should" but instead he took the "my ex, who is everything you are not, is in town and therefore i will hang out with her and keep it a secret and therefore possibly ruin any sense of trust between us forever" route. also, kim delaney? nearly unrecognizable with bloat. i wouldn't have known it was her if i hadn't read it on twop.

5. i think they're handling the lesbian storyline surprisingly well. i think marissa is less annoying as a lesbian. though the "don't miss the last five minutes" coming attraction was lame.

6. seth and summer are totally going to get back together! soon! or at least make out! but i hope they don't get rid of zach.

1. word. and i like them too! but it's annoying.

2. he's totally faking. that dinner scene was pretty awesome though with how horrible caleb was and lindsay's "there's no music in chino" line and ryan throwing the lindsay situation in caleb's face right before he went down.

3. i actually watched that scene twice. i hope alex and seth can be friends.

4. my mom actually called me while i was out and left a message like this "it's 4 minutes into the oc and HE HAS TO TELL HER." sandy's better than this. i also did not recgnize kim delaney until twop told me it was her.

5. agreed. i actually, um, like them together? what? maybe it's that alex has better hair. but the fox promo department is consistently LAME.

6. OMG, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! the scene in summer's bedroom with the outfit and him positioning her? HOT. they need to find a way to make zach still their friend though cause that dude was hysterical last night. so clueless and eager, it was cute. ok, one more time, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

there's no music in chino! schwartz must read forums of all kinds because that is totally something a fan would say when mocking the chino thing. also, i assume ryan must have told lindsay about teresa, which is good, because she didn't look surprised or anything.

marissa needs to go back to school, though. she's dumb as a brick already.

i figure it's only a matter of time before they bring back kaitlyn cooper and age her, so maybe zach can date her!

no music in chino was a complete shout out to the world of forums.

also amusing, marisa and her magic flask. i'm surprised summer hasn't made some snarkly remark about her skipping school and how she used to drink IN school so she shouldn't have to do that.

kaitlyn and zach? that would be AMAZING.

This would have been way cooler if you hadn't said it was about the o.c. Then I would have just thought this was about your friends.

if you're dissing on the o.c., then i might have to fight you.

Noooo! I know better. Besides, I've never watched, so I can't judge.

I just think it would have been funnier to think this post was about people you know. Any post where you can say, "i know it's hard to date your adopted mother's illegitimate half-sister, but i'm getting bored," is okay with me.

My latest and only TV obsession is Arrested Development.

arrested development is quality tv. the shows it reminds me of most are seinfeld (because the characters are likeable without being likeable) and soap (i can't explain why.)

i think you should give the o.c. a shot. my friend inbal finally watched it once at my house after hearing me talk about it for months, and i think she was pleasantly surprised at how funny it is. it's more than just a teen drama! i swear.

I read the Sports Guy (Bill Simmons), and he writes about way more than just sports. He LOVES the o.c. I think it's his replacement for 90210. He loved that show as well, not because he thought it was a great show, but because he loved the ridiculous drama of it all.

I'm trying my best to avoid any more TV addictions, though. But maybe I'll give it a watch sometime.

the o.c. is like 90210 but FUNNY. 90210 was never intentionally funny. no one was ever snarky or sarcastic.

I think Bill's favorite part about 90210 was the unintentional comedy. Like that guy who was supposed to be in high school but was bald and at least 35. Ian Ziering? Yeah, that guy.

You gotta love a show that will unashamedly cast a middle aged guy as a 16 year old.

1) Dude, I don't like Zach. I think that he might have the potential to develop into an interesting character (instead of a white-washed WASPy Cohen-clone) if Seth and Summer get back together.

2) Marissa is a coward. I think Alex is hurting and her inability to decide on anything is hurting her more.

... would type more but gotta go!

why is Marissa a coward? considering that in show-time she's been hanging out with alex for about 2 weeks, i think she's actually deciding on things pretty fast. after all, we're talking about starting a lesbian relationship, not buying a pair of shoes.

maybe zach will turn out to be gay, too.

Marissa is a coward because she systematically escapes from any real recognition of what she's doing with her life. Her magic flask is a symbol of her cowardice. She truly is her step-father's daughter.

I don't think Zach will turn out to be gay--I'm hoping for either a menage a trois or an "evil Zach" storyline.

I thought you meant specifically in the Marissa/Alex storyline, I didn't realize you were talking about Marissa in general.

Retreating to alcohol can be cowardly, but she's also supposed to be just 17. Did you face up to everything wrong in your life when you were 17? I think it's pretty realistic. In fact, I'm almost glad they haven't had some sort of "omg Marissa gets really wasted and now she'll never drink again" storyline, because she is, for better or worse, a functioning alcoholic.

i agree with your thoughts on sandy - what is he doing? he does know better.

caleb has got to be faking being a nice person, but if that's what he's doing then the storyline is too close to the storyline about dan (nathan's dad) on ONE TREE HILL. but after a heart attack, i can see being nice for a few days and not even thinking about the need to fake it.

like a lot of storylines, i think we've got to wait and see how the caleb and sandy tales play. if i recall correctly from the first season, one could get upset about a few plot twists, and then have everything turn out great.

i'm mostly concerned about the dialogue being less funny that it used to be. maybe that's just me.

i thought i'd started to get annoyed with seth lately, but those scenes with summer were fantastic. i didn't expect that level of intensity from THE O.C.

and, i'm sure this is a rumor, but i thought i read somewhere that kaitlyn cooper is getting her own spin-off.

if kaitlyn cooper gets her own spinoff, i hope she's played by someone else. i don't think the character is even strong enough to merit a spinoff, but stranger things have happened.

another thing i was thinking of is that maybe caleb isn't 100% faking: maybe he really does want to make things up to kirsten and lindsay, but has an ulterior motive somewhere. also, last season when he first married julie there was definite hinting that something else was going on there, and they just dropped that storyline. maybe something will happen there.
